Shortly after triggering Article 50, Theresa May said that whilst she aimed to secure a withdrawal agreement with the EU, “No deal is better than a bad deal”. As the Brexit deadline of 29 March 2019 drew closer, the prospect of no deal became increasingly likely due to parliamentary deadlock.
